After gathering my references I did a few initial sketches on what I wanted the scene to look like these where messy and freehand just to get an idea of what I wanted to start with.

I then started to model and block out using Maya and the previous generated floor plan. Admittedly modular piece like walls and ceiling are a bit difficult for me to wrap my head around. I find it hard to conceptualise the end result and how the part will all fit together in the end.

So due to that when I started it out I was using the geometry of the model and the grids in Maya to try and create the walls in way that kept the scale uniform and made sense with scale man.

The plan was to then once I had the scale of each wall to separate and extrude the wall (since single plain walls would cause numerous issues with textures and lighting later when in engine)

It's at this point where I was getting frustrated with the project after I stared on what I wanted to be the big architectural features of this project: the desk area the window and the bed area. they felt very off , a little bit too inspired by 80s sci-fi I think.

Still I tried to push through but the more I worked on it the more frustrated I got with the pieces they didn't feel right with my idea of the world and the scene the shapes here still felt sci fi but it didn't feel like my take on sci fi. Also the more I looked and felt the scale of the scene the more if felt off I wanted it to feel oppressive yes but the level of how contained and cramped it was felt it extreme. I don't think Varium would keep its agents , their very powerful and destructive agents, in such a small cage it didn't feel accurate to their status. They're basically prisoners yes but they still very important people and I feel like they'd have a bit more living room than this. Which definitely went against how I originally mood boarded and planned out this scene.

In retrospect I realise I went into these designs without a lot of care or thought, I knew that after banging my head against the wall trying to make these initial designs work I would have to go back to the drawing board.
